DON’T BE FOOLED! Scam Artists and BOTS scrape municipal websites for application and notification information, including details on approvals and permit process forms. They take pieces of legitimate letterheads, logos, commission members' staff names, and titles, and combine them into realistic emails that request payment and/or attach invoices. What to do: STOP - Ask yourself: Was this expected? Is the amount excessive? CHECK- The email address carefully. SCAMS use @usa.com or similar. READ – Carefully for proper grammar or vernacular.
