NOTICE OF TAXES DUE TOWN OF PROSPECT JANUARY 1, 2025 Supplemental Motor Vehicle tax bills for vehicles registered after October 1, 2023 are due January 1, 2025, payable by February 3, 2025. Bills will be going out in the mail next week. Bills will become available for early payment online and in person on Friday, December 20, 2024. If you have questions regarding assessment, exemptions or adjustments please contact the Assessor’s Office. If you have any questions regarding payment, please contact the Tax Office. As a reminder, the second installment of Real Estate and Personal Property taxes on the Grand List of October 1, 2023, is due January 1, 2025, payable by February 3, 2025. Payment of taxes may be made by mail, drop box, online at www.townofprospect.org or at the office of the Tax Collector in the Town Hall. If you use the drop box or mail your payment, please include a name and contact number. In accordance with State Statute 12-145, any portion of this installment remaining unpaid after February 3, 2025, is subject to interest at the rate of 1 ½% per month (18% per year) from the due date until paid. The minimum interest charge is $2.00.

NOTICE OF TAXES DUE
Notice is hereby given to all persons liable for the payment of taxes to the Town of Prospect that the first installment for the Grand List of October 1, 2023 Real Estate and Personal Property and the entire bill on Motor Vehicles are due July 1, 2024, payable on or before August 1, 2024 to avoid interest. Per State Statute 12-146 interest at the rate of 1 ½% per month (18% per year) will be applied to all delinquent bills from the due date of July 1st with a minimum interest fee is $2.00.
Taxpayers owing motor vehicle bills that were due prior to July 1, 2024, are required to pay all back and current taxes in cash to be cleared within one business day for registering any vehicle at the Department of Motor Vehicles. As of July 1, 2024, there is an additional $5.00 fee for immediate DMV release.
Payment of taxes may be made by mail, online at townofprospect.org, or at the Tax Office, 36 Center Street, Prospect, Mon.-Fri. 8:30am-4:00pm. Additional office hours will be held on July 25, 2024 until 7pm and on Saturday, July 20, 2024 8:00am – 12:00pm.
